Course Descriptions

DCC 601 - Anxiety Counseling - Anxiety or what is sometimes names the "disquieted soul"---requires spiritual treatment.  Addressing the collaborative roles of psychiatry and ministry, this course focuses on cognitive-based methods and faith practices for providing relief.

DCC 602 - Christ Centered Therapy - This course will accomplish a full integration of psychology and theology with the goal of endorsing a biblical psychology that can guide Christ-centered counseling.

DCC 603 - Christian Counseling IV - This course in pastoral counseling, includes recent research and strategies for dealing with problems such as AIDS, homosexuality, violence, and eating disorders; and sections covering terrorism, trauma and crises; death and grief; and multicultural and mutiracial issues.

DCC 604 - Conflict Resolution - This course will help you experience the healing power of biblical peacemaking as you learn to apply scriptural principles to conflict in the world.  Parse the elements of arguments and begin to see that there's not really any difference that can't be overcome with the right perspective.  It is practical guidance for resolving all types of conflict and hope for relationships you thought were unsalvageable.

DCC 605 - Counseling Adolescents and Their Families - Teens have special mental and emotional issues that need to be addressed by pastors and their colleagues in ministry.  This course identifies twenty-two of the most common mental health conditinos that occur among adolescents and provides illustrative cases.

DCC 606 - Tests and Measurements - As a pastoral counselor, you face many challenges from hurting people.  Sorting through the problems can be a major undertaking.  Psychological tests are tools, that when properly adminstered and interpreted, can lead you in the pursuit of truth.  This course will provide you testing procedures and measurement concepts.

DCC 607 - Christian Ethics IV - This course will deal with the most pressing issues of the day in accordance with Scripture.  You will examine how the Bible teaches us to make ethical decisions with modern day issues.

DCC 608 - World Religions - This course will help you understand the beliefs and practices of religious people around the world.  You will learn how communicate your beliefs and faith to people of other religions.
